Music App For Windows Phone
I am totally floored. We Windows Phone users have been looking for a better way to sync our music to our phone since Zune was shut down. For me, Windows Media Player was, begrudgingly, what I ended up using. I've really been looking forward to Windows10 and was under the impression Microsoft was about to unveil a great new app for interaction between my phone and my pc. But what did we get? The Windows Phone Companion.Which does NOTHING!I cannot understand this. I know that Microsoft has been pushing sales of the Groove Music Pass and that's fine.
But I have tons of songs I have already purchased that I would like to listen to, off-line, on my phone. Not only has Microsoft offerednothing new, but it looks like they've taken Media Player away from us!MICROSOFT - How do I put playlists on my phone? How do I search for music that I've recently downloaded (sort by date)? How do I organize my library the wayI want to organize it?I am extremely disappointed and let down by Microsoft.PLEASE respond to this.
Music App For Windows 10
Tell me I'm missing something. I've been holding on to Microsoft by a thread hoping the Windows 10 would alleviate the problems I've been having.I am seriously considering downgrading back to Windows 8; using ITunes; and purchasing an IPhone.
Groove Music. See below for details. Catalog size and availability varies by market and over time. Microsoft account and internet required; ISP fees apply. Works with Windows 10, PCs, tablets and phones, Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8, Xbox One and Xbox 360 (Xbox Live required). Works with SONOS, Android and iPhone; see app stores.
So So SOOOO disappointed. We are working on those features.we are not feature complete for RTM.For now, you can add music to your collection using your Groove Music Pass on the web, in the Groove app on Windows 10 desktop, and in the Xbox Music app on other platforms.I do not want a Groove Music pass. I want to play my own music - that I already paid for. And you are not telling me how to add music to my phone.
Did you really take away Windows Media Player? I know I can add music thru Windows Explorer - which isa terrible way to do it. But how do I add playlists?
Is this all a way to force people to purchase a Groove Music Pass?If so, terrible idea; you'll lose a lot of Microsoft Phone customers. Definitely including me. I am really getting fed up with the lack of action regarding music and Windows Phones. Steve Rogalinski.
I have asked a similar question-twice now-and received no answer from Microsoft. If you had the music pass, you used to be able to match your local (owned) collection to their music library and stream from online using that. Regarding this past functionalityand what you are asking (owned tracks)-it appears they want you to upload all your music (or at least those songs you want portable) to OneDrive and either stream or download from there. This is another hoop to go through, but it does offer additional functionalityfor non-music pass users-you can stream or download your own stuff from anywhere anytime. If you forgot to 'sync' something you can do it using WiFi, cellular data or whatever from anywhere. The downside, in my experience so far, is that uploading to OneDrive is stupendously slow (I have nearly 3Mb/sec upload speed).
It takes hours and hours and hours to get even a modest collection uploaded. I am yet another customer (the people who pay Microsoft wages) who is very dissapointed. I have spent hours trying to get my sons windows phone to sync with his iTunes library using phone companion on a brand new windows 10 pc. It worked well on Windows7 using the old phone app. The windows 10 version is plain rubbish.Microsoft you should be ashamed of yourself. If it is meant to work please expalin how? If you know it doesn't work yet please just be honest and say so.
If you're intent is to make it so hard to sync iTunes with a windows phone that peole will change toa Microsoft only solution than think again. Like a lot of people we have invested time in iTunes, ipods etc and WILL NOT be chaniging. If you want people to change to Windows products then make them work and gain our trust.By the way, this has been written on an Android tablet.that will be my next challenge. I have at best been slating Microsoft for the past few years because they could never get the Window Phone 8.1 and previously 8.0 with any form of music app (Xbox Music included) to synchronise properly to a Windows PC with a playlist ability, until now. Here me out and don't shoot me down but this is my experience.I decided that with the Windows 10 release in July I upgrade my laptop, I thought lets give it another go. I loaded the Groove application on my Windows 10 laptop and just checked out what it would allow me to do.1) Firstly it said put all my music into the OneDrive Music directory, so I removed all stored music on my Windows Phone 8.1 and then proceeded to put all my music into the OneDrive Music directory.2) Secondly I created a sample play list of about 4 albums. Never got playlist to work.3) Thirdly made sure the latest Xbox Music app on my phone was loaded.Well I never, when I looked at my Windows Phone all the music was there in the Xbox Music app and the playlist too.
I thought still too good to be true, so instantly played the playlist and it worked, I nearly fell over. A simple task that actually workedfor once.
Had exactly the same issues. Was driving me mad that under Win7 I could at least sync my music lists on my Windows phone.
After a lot cussing and looking at these posts I think I stumbled over a workaround. Windows media player still on my pc but to beginmy playlists were not (except if I looked in Groove). Using windows explorer I located the playlists I wanted, right mouse button clicked and chose open with Window media player. My playlist began to play and from then it was just a case of changing to viewlibrary and my playlist was listed within media player. Connected my phone and dragged the list to the sync pane as per before. It's all working now but I have to agree with people's comments, this is a screw up from Microsoft. Windows 10 was supposed to make things easier so I never once thought I'd have such problems.
I'm a pretty competent user but for some people I can see thisbeing very confusing and frustrating. Come on Microsoft, this is supposed to be easy but you've taken away a fairly decent app and given us some half baked app that's clearly not thought out from a user perspective. I get that Microsoft wants to sell this service, but they are totally alienating users who have their own music library. Microsoft gets plenty of money from me for other things and I thinkit sucks that they can't provide us with a decent music program that works well with Windows phone. If things don't straighten out, mine will be traded in for an IPhone pretty soon.Steve Rogalinski.
